MILLIE SCHMIDT
Going to the Horns N Heroes clinic hosted by Charly Crawford wasn’t just about learning to rope better—it was a defining experience. As the only woman in the clinic and a veteran who works closely with other veterans and first responders back home at Power of Hope in Missouri, I felt the weight and meaning of being there.
The words shared by Trey Johnson stayed with me. They helped me reconnect with my purpose and reminded me why I do what I do. Every moment in that arena pushed me to grow—not just in skill, but in strength, confidence, and clarity.
I came home different. I brought back more than improved roping skills—I brought back lessons in leadership, growth, and healing. And I didn’t just bring them back for me. I brought them back for my people—for the veterans and first responders who show up every day to do the hard work of rebuilding themselves. The impact is still unfolding, and I’m proud to carry it forward.
