JR Berry
J.R. Berry is a man of many talents, strengths, and passions. From playing sports and showing cattle in FFA during high school to being drafted by the Phillies while entering college, his childhood was full of hard work and determination, even with limited means. After an injury ended his baseball career, he discovered the healing power of horses, sparking a lifelong love of roping. He cherishes the trust horses place in humans and enjoys building that bond—from the ground to the roping pen.
Driven by the same desire to help and serve others, J.R. pursued a career as a firefighter, dedicating two decades to the role with heart and commitment. His involvement with the American Hero organization began in 2021 when he roped in the American Hero Celebration, followed by participation in a clinic in 2022. Since then, he has become an ambassador, inspired by the organization’s mission to support armed forces and first responders while promoting the western way of life.
Though he has won the Pro-Am twice (2022 & 2024), J.R. values the lifelong friendships and community he has built above all. Through teaching, mentoring, and sharing his passion, he continues to grow both personally and in service to others.
