Following his years of service, Dr. Mallory pursued higher education at Texas A&M University, earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Agricultural Leadership & Development. He then continued his academic journey at Texas Tech University, where he received both his Master’s degree in Counselor Education in Clinical Mental Health and his Doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision.
Dr. Mallory is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a National Certified Counselor (NCC). He is the Owner and Founder of Cardinal Counseling and Wellness Group, a trauma- and grief-informed group practice. Through Cardinal Counseling and Wellness Group, Dr. Mallory leads advocacy efforts and specialized programs supporting veterans and first responders, helping these communities access counseling resources and navigate the challenges they face.
Currently, Dr. Mallory serves as an Assistant Professor of Counseling and holds an appointment with the Veteran Advisory Council at Tarleton State University.
With over 25 years of experience spanning the Marine Corps, law enforcement, counselor education, investigation work, and clinical counseling, Dr. Mallory understands the unique culture and stigma that public servants encounter when seeking help. He is devoted to combating suicide and advancing counselor development. Dr. Mallory supports clients through evidence-based, trauma-informed approaches to growth and healing. His eclectic and holistic therapeutic style offers clients a unique healing experience.
Dr. Mallory is passionate about counselor education and sees himself as a vital link between the next generation of counselors and those in need. He recognizes that each individual’s path to learning and healing is different. By using diverse treatment and educational tools, he is able to serve a wide range of clients. Dr. Mallory firmly believes that in order to live well, we must first learn to struggle well.
